KL Saracens 1st XV began their Liga KRS campaign on 23rd June 2019 with a narrow away win over Cobra Stings at Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah in Shah Alam.
The first half was a scrappy affair punctuated by handling errors from both sides. Cobra Stings scored first but then Ramez touched down after some nice passing to make the score 7-7 at half time. KLS started the second half in a much more disciplined fashion with the error count dropping considerably. Aiman scored a good opportunists try to edge KLS ahead. Cobra Srings then responded with a neat try in the corner to tie the scores again (12-12). KLS had all of the possession going into the last quarter and it seemed like it was only a matter of time before they would score. Sure enough, the pressure paid off and KLS Academy Graduate, Amil (still only 17!) finished of some tidy passing with a great try. Cobra Stings then mounted some concerted pressure in an effort to save the game. However, the KLS defense was up to the task and stood firm. Toby Goulding 's turnover tackle on the 5m line right at the death ensured KLS started off the season with a decent away win. Final score 17-12.
